This week we have the privilege to go another round around the wheel. Saturday, December 21 is officially Winter Solstice at 4.21 EST. It’s the shortest day of the year.

It ushers in the first day of Winter. I personally love this day, and it really feels like my Christmas because I am not into this commercial gift giving holiday anymore and I think people tend to forget the real celebration of this holiday. I love to do my rituals, spend some alone time e time just being, and thinking about or journaling about all the things I am so grateful for. I usually take 10 days off at this time to just regroup. Well needed of course!

We know that Winter is a time of slowing down and giving ourselves a break from the hassle and bustle. A time for going inward to reflect on the past year. It’s time to review the past and what we actually did accomplish over the year. Get ready to let go of any disappointments, and do not drag these into the new year. We want to create a fresh slate so we can start over again fresh in the new year.

Think of new things that you may want to try over this time of the year. Maybe there is a pile of good books just waiting for you to pick up and read. Maybe you purchased some programs on the computer that you just didn’t have time to do yet. Call those friends you have been thinking about and actually catch up and make a date with them. A season for continuing with your clearing out of the clutter. Maybe make a date with your friends and meet over your house while having them each bring a pile of things they want to give away and swap. Make it fun!

This holiday is perfect for meditating, praying, and celebrating your family, friends, and coworkers. You may even decide to open up emotionally and express how you feel to each one. It is not for everyone, but some will love this. Look at your altar and think about how you have changed over the year and redesign your altar. Creativity is also at the top of this list. Dig one of those unfinished projects out and finish it! What ever you decide to do, enjoy! Wishing you all the best change of the season ever!
