Take Back the Wheel

Ever notice how you can start the day feeling amazing—clear, energized, focused—and then suddenly, BAM, something shifts? A random comment, a traffic delay, or a negative email throws everything off. You were vibing high, and now it feels like your peace is circling the drain.

Why does that happen so easily?

Because life is full of distractions. Annoyances. Little energy zappers I like to call Pac-Men—those tiny things that sneak in and start nibbling away at your calm. Even when you know better mentally, energetically they still grab hold and begin to pull in more of the same. And before you know it, the day is no longer yours. But here’s the good news:You can take your power back—right in that moment.

Catch the Shift, Claim Your Energy

What if, instead of spiraling, we paused and said: Oh, here come those Pac-Men again.Add a little humor. Add a little grace. Awareness is your superpower. Once you realize what’s happening, you can stop the momentum, reset, and reclaim your day.

This is the exact moment when you shift from reacting to choosing. And that small but powerful shift puts you back in the driver’s seat.

Simple Tools to Shift Your State

You don’t need hours or a full-on retreat to reset your energy. Just a few intentional moments can make a massive difference. Here are a few of my favorite go-to tools when I feel the spiral starting:

  • Change your environment. Step outside, even for just ten minutes. A change in scenery shifts your energy fast.

  • Take a deep breath—and say, “This is not mine. I release it.” Just naming it can break the pattern.

  • Try EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). Tap through the points and end with positive affirmations like, “I am calm, I am centered, I choose peace.”

  • Do a mini visual meditation. Close your eyes and imagine your favorite natural place. Engage all your senses—what do you see, hear, smell, feel? Let it calm your system.

  • Even in an office setting, sneak into a quiet room or the bathroom and breathe it out. Don’t underestimate the power of 2-3 conscious breaths.

These micro-shifts compound. The more you practice, the faster you bounce back.

You Own the Day—Not the Other Way Around

We don’t always control what the day brings, but we always have control over how we respond. Your energy is sacred. Your peace is worth protecting. When you feel the hijack happening, pause. Choose to shift. Choose to own your moment.

Because when you own the moment—you own the day.

So next time life tries to throw you off course, smile at those silly Pac-Men, shake it off, and say with confidence:“Nope. Not today. I’m taking back the wheel.”
