Mind Spinning

Ever notice that so many times in our lives we let our fear get the best of us? When things happen in our lives when we are not sure how people feel about us in any given situation we spin an untruth in our minds. Take an example of texting a friend and you may not hear back from them for a while and in the meantime, you feed your ego by creating every possible scenario known to man. We start by wondering if they are just busy. Then we start thinking did I do something wrong? That spins off to maybe they’re mad at me. If this goes on for too long our ego tells us that we have every right to be mad at them now. What follows is us going down a rabbit hole that brings up every negative emotion we could possibly have. Then we finally hear from them and feel foolish because it was nothing at all. I call this mind-spinning. I just got caught in this recently even though I know better. Boy oh boy did I spin this. I was sure it was real only to find out I wasted time and lots of energy on it even though I knew better. This is definitely misdirected energy. What are you really sad or angry about? When this happens it is important to get clear with yourself. Look at it and then let it go because it is not worth your time and energy. Know that in time no matter what is really going on, you will know the truth about whatever it is. In the meantime, just breathe through it. It is also appropriate to have open, honest conversations with the person about your concerns. This way it doesn't explode into something huge. Honesty and clarity are so important in this hectic world so you don't mistake what's happening and lose a friend or business opportunity. Remember, be patient and allow and stop feeding your ego mind. Practice this and watch what happens.
