We all from time to time get in a funk where we feel down or feel unmotivated. It can spiral and before we know it we are having a hard time shifting our mood. I'm going to give you some strategies to help you out of it. I think the first step is to reflect on the cause. I noticed that a big factor for me is lack of sleep, or overwhelm. If you can get on top of it quickly, exercise in the moment helps. I throw on some good music and Zumba. We all know that exercise releases endorphins, which boost our moods and energy levels. Make sure you are eating right and staying hydrated. Sometimes it's that easy to go back to basics first. Reaching out to a good friend to share your feelings or a therapist if needed can be so helpful. Breathing exercises, Emotional Freedom techniques, meditation, and self-care are all ways to take care of yourself in the moment. Another way to shift is to do something you haven't done in a while that you love. It can jump-start you in the moment. Also, cut down your schedule or work if you can. Put things Into more bite-size steps. Don't pressure yourself. Even by working on a project in small baby steps daily, you will get there.
Take some time off with the intention to get out of your funk. Have a relaxed agenda.
Take a break from technology. Don't beat yourself up for feeling this way. Treat yourself the same way as a friend, with kindness. Judgment has no place here as we all get in a funk from time to time. If it persists long term know that you simply have too much on your plate and make adjustments. Self-care always has to be at the top of the weekly list. Do it today!
