Your blessings and good fortune come in so many different ways. Of course, there are the obvious ways such as extra money that comes in unexpected ways, or a tax return that’s a surprise to you. But blessings go so far beyond that.

Health: The Greatest Blessing

Since witnessing my beautiful partner Gerard’s health challenges, I have witnessed first hand how health has to be first. Many may feel that just because they haven’t had health challenges yet that they’re exempt from them. Not true! Often, it can come like a thief in the night taking us by surprise. Good health is the biggest blessing of all.

Support and Kindness

Support is another big one to be grateful for. Again, first hand I have experienced what this is like. I can’t believe the different acts of support and kindness I have experienced since Gerard has been ill. You may never know how just a quick phone call checking in can mean so much. I have had people drop off meals, offer to rake my leaves, help financially, or even stop by to give me a hug.

You may never know how much this is appreciated. That while you’re going through worrying about if your loved one is going to be alright, life and its challenges doesn’t stop. There becomes a lot more things to worry about. Pride wants to tell you that you are doing it on your own, but I am not that naive. The old saying it takes a village to raise a child, reminds me that it takes a village to help you move through a crisis. Accepting support was not easy for me, but when I surrendered into it I was in awe at the good that still exists in people. So appreciate all the support available to you.

Appreciating the Small Blessings

Sometimes it’s not only the big things that we should appreciate. What about getting a parking space right in front of your destination on a rainy day? Getting your test results back giving you a clean bill of health. Counting your blessings in your own family that your kids are doing great and are kind people. Also, have gratitude for the love that comes unconditionally from your pets that may often be taken for granted. They are one of the best gifts that spirit has given us to remind us that love is alive and present.

Practicing Gratitude Daily

So in conclusion, start appreciating and noticing all your blessings and good fortune. By keeping your focus, you will attract more in. To make the best of good fortune:

  • Make the most of the good times.

  • Live according to your values.

  • Cultivate your best self.

  • Practice gratitude.

  • Be generous and humble.

  • Work to benefit others.
