Mothering Yourself on Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day! To all you amazing Mothers that keep your families and the rest of the world functioning on a day-to-day basis. In my eyes, this is a high holy day. If you are blessed to still have your mother here, celebrate her and all she means to you. Whether you’re a fur baby mom or a mom of a two-legged, spend time appreciating what you have. Whether near or far from your mom, take the time for a phone call, a visit, a hug, or some kind of appreciation. Remember that it's their day, not yours.

Often, people give in a way that they would like to receive in. It's not about the money one spends. At the end of the day, it's the effort you put out and the time spent together. In this busy world, if we could take a break from worrying, negativity, or electronics, and enjoy some family memories, some laughs, a walk, or shared kind-heartedness, then that's enough.

I think of all the great Mothers throughout time that have fostered great ones that have changed the course of history. To all of them wherever they are, thank you! By nourishing and nurturing each one of them in their own way, you allowed them to grow into their purpose in spectacular ways.

One of the most important things is to take time yourself to appreciate the mom in you. Can you bookmark some time to take a long bath, go for a walk, call a friend or share some laughs? Give the gift of self-love in some unique way that only you can appreciate. Give to yourself something that you wish someone would give to you. Usually, moms want more time. Let your mom read a book or encourage them to stop long enough to enjoy something. Whatever your form of mothering yourself is, just do it!

Let's not forget all the moms that have passed on. There's not a day that goes by that I don't miss mine. You can even get together and share their memories with the family. The memories keep them alive in your hearts. Maybe making a favorite meal of theirs while sharing or creating a Mother's Day altar with pictures and all. Find the time while you can and remember it's moms that rule the world. Enjoy the day. 💜
